PM-DCB™ Display Color Balancing
Automated system for projector color balancing and gamma correction.
The PM-DCB™ is a turnkey, automated system for performing color balancing and gamma correction of three color channel projectors based on LCD and LCOS technology. The PM-DCB™ enables correction of both color and brightness variations within a display image, and allow separate corrections to be performed at different display brightness levels. Gamma correction balances the output of each color channel to ensure that displayed brightness levels match the desired gamma curve and ensures that the target color temperature is maintained at all brightness levels.
The PM-DCB™ consists of a set of software tools that measure luminance and chromaticity coordinates at multiple points in the displayed image and then compares these to desired values. This operation can be performed at multiple display brightness levels. The software then determines the correction coefficients necessary to bring display output into target performance, and sends these factors to the display control electronics. Radiant Imaging customizes PM-DCB™ to work with the specific correction electronics of each user’s display.
The PM-DCB™ Measurement is designed to work with any of our PM Series™ Imaging Colorimeters. Selecting this hardware from the wide range of PM Series™ products provides tremendous flexibility in determining final system performance, capabilities and cost. PM-DCB™ Measurement was developed using the ActiveX interface. The use of ActiveX controls in our software enables it to be extended by the user to perform customized, automated tests using software such as LabView, Matlab, VBA, VBScript, Javascript, C and C++.
