| LED Array Measurement |
| |
LED arrays are often used to produce illuminated characters in signs, traffic signals, automotive signal lamps, and backlights. Usually, these applications require accurate luminance and color measurement for each LED to ensure that they are within a specified tolerance.
The nearly monochromatic output of most LEDs has made it difficult to produce accurate color and luminance using measurement systems based on color filters (as opposed to dispersive elements, such as gratings). However, Radiant Imaging has developed accurate filters combined with flexible calibration methods to enable accurate chrominance measurements using filter based Imaging Colorimeters. Together with advanced algorithms that minimize measurement time for production applications, this approach now offers both the speed and accuracy necessary for production line testing.
LED array measurement is powerful and simple with Radiant Imaging’s PM-LED™ Measurement software, which includes the capabilities to easily specify the layout of the LEDs. Once the LED array layout is setup, PM-LED™ can measure all of the LEDs in the array and compare their output characteristics to user-defined pass-fail criteria. Built in support for ActiveX controls enables the development of customized front-end user interface for production using LabView, Matlab, VBA, VBScript, Javascript, C and C++. Custom testing routines for specific applications can also be developed by Radiant Imaging on request.
